How To: Setup Filezilla for your FTP Transfers
This tutorial will show you how to use Filezilla, the free FTP solution, with your FTP server to access your seedbox.
Step 1 - Install Filezilla
I am going to assume if you are reading this you have basic knowledge of installing programs and Filezilla is a really straight forward program when it comes to installing to your PC. Filezilla is free to use and can be downloaded at http://filezilla-project.org/. Once installed open Filezilla to the main screen, it should look like this:Step 2 - Create new site
Next you need to setup a "Site" within Filezilla's Site Manager. To do this you need to go to File > Site Manager. This will pop up your site manager window where you can see your current FTP sites and create new ones. We need to create a new connection so click "New Site" and name it with an identifier such as "Gamestuff" or "Seeedbox".
Step 3 - Server Details
On the right hand side of the site manager we need to input our servers connection settings. Here are the feilds you need to change:Host: This is server address, this should be located in your welcome email.
Port: This is your servers port, this should be located in your welcome email.
Server Type: This is either going to be FTP. We HIGHLY recommend using the "Require explicit FTP over TLS" option as this is the safest and most secure way of accessing your FTP in an encrypted manner. A regular FTP connection is still possible but is unsecure web traffic and in theory could be monitored.
Username: Your username you use to access your services
Password: Your password you use to access your servicesClick connect to test your connection. If successful you should be able to log into your FTP server and see your directories and files.
Step 4 - Maximimizing your downloads
Filezilla does not currently support multi-threading but it does support downloading multiple files at once. This can greatly increase and maximize your download connection often maxing it to its fullest potential. To enable multiple connections requires some simple setup. From your main filezilla screen go to Edit > Settings.... This will pop up your settings menu. From here click on the Transfers tab. Once in the transfers tab, under concurrent downloads, set your number of concurrent downloads to 10. Also set the limits to 0 to disable them. Click ok and Restart Filezilla.
Congratulations, you should be done and Filezilla is ready to transfer all your files from your seedbox to your PC!
*Note: If you are experiencing issues connecting after setup, please make sure to allow filezilla on any Firewalls, IP Blocking software, and Anti Virus software.*
